What do you think the chances are of Earl hitting NYC and Boston are? Why? How strong to you think it will be by the time it gets up this way? Tropical storm? Hurricane (how strong?)

Here's some pictures taken by Boston.com readers of the storm and it's aftermath Sunday. Most of New England, NYC, and some other adjoining places were under a tornado watch. There's 30 pictures so far, perhaps with more to be added.

Here is a slideshow of the big ice storm earlier this month. Thousands in Massachusetts and NH and New Hampshire were without power for well over a week, and many didn't get their power back until Christmas.

It's been so bad in some places that comparisons are being made to the flooding from Hurricane Agnes in 1972, and of pages from out of the book of Katrina (2005).
